Senior Manager, IT Operations & Cloud Services

Role overview:

The Senior Manager of IT Operations and Cloud Services will lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of the company's IT infrastructure, ensuring efficient and secure technology operations across the organization. This individual will also oversee the transition to and management of cloud-based services, ensuring alignment with the company's digital transformation goals.

In addition to traditional IT and cloud responsibilities, the successful candidate will support the company’s Digital Enterprise Services initiatives by incorporating digital twin technologies, AI-driven analytics, and data management processes into the IT and cloud infrastructure. This role requires a forward-thinking leader capable of balancing day-to-day IT operational demands with the implementation of cutting-edge technologies that enhance design and manufacturing optimization.

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating a unified strategy for IT operations, cloud deployment, and digital enterprise services, ensuring seamless integration between legacy systems, cloud technologies, and advanced analytics platforms.

Responsibilities

• Leadership: Manage and oversee the IT operations team, ensuring the effective deployment and maintenance of hardware, software, networks, and communication systems.

• Infrastructure Management: Direct the planning, design, and operation of all IT infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, and IT support.

• IT Service Management: Establish and oversee IT service management processes to ensure efficient, consistent, and reliable IT support to the organization.

• System Availability and Uptime: Ensure optimal availability and uptime of IT systems, minimizing downtime through proactive monitoring, incident management, and problem resolution.

• Cybersecurity: Collaborate with the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) to maintain robust cybersecurity policies and practices, ensuring the protection of company data and assets.

• Vendor Management: Manage relationships with third-party vendors and service providers to ensure high-quality IT services and cost efficiency.

• Disaster Recovery: Develop and implement comprehensive disaster recovery and business continuity plans.

Cloud Services:

• Cloud Strategy: Lead the development and execution of the company's cloud strategy, focusing on transitioning legacy systems to cloud-based platforms and optimizing cloud environments.

• Cloud Infrastructure: Oversee the design, deployment, and management of cloud architecture and services, ensuring scalability, security, and cost-efficiency.

• Cloud Operations: Ensure the smooth operation of cloud-based systems, managing uptime, performance, and security of cloud infrastructure and applications.

• Cloud Migration: Lead the planning and execution of cloud migration projects, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.

• Cloud Cost Management: Monitor and optimize cloud spending, implementing cost-saving measures and ensuring alignment with the company’s budgetary goals.

• Cloud Security: Work with the cybersecurity team to ensure that cloud environments meet strict security and compliance standards.

• Innovation: Identify and implement new technologies and cloud services that align with the company’s strategic goals and support the development of advanced aviation products.

Digital Enterprise Services:

• Digital Twin Integration: Collaborate with the Digital Enterprise team to support the deployment and maintenance of digital twin technologies used in the design, development, and optimization of aircraft systems and manufacturing processes.

• AI and Analytics Integration: Work with data science and analytics teams to incorporate AI-driven insights and machine learning models into operational processes, enhancing product design and manufacturing efficiency.

• Data Management: Oversee data management practices to ensure that IT infrastructure can support large-scale analytics, real-time simulations, and other digital enterprise initiatives.

• Emerging Technologies: Leverage IoT, AR/VR, and other emerging technologies to enhance data collection and analysis across product lifecycles, from design to production.

Leadership and Collaboration:

• Team Management: Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of IT, cloud, and digital enterprise professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including engineering, digital enterprise, and product development teams, to ensure IT and cloud services align with the company’s business needs.

• Process Improvement: Continuously assess and improve IT, cloud, and digital enterprise operations, implementing industry best practices to drive efficiency and innovation.

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).

Experience

• 10+ years of experience in IT operations, including at least 5 years of leadership experience.

• Proven experience managing cloud-based systems (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc.) and hybrid IT environments.

• Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, including networking, servers, virtualization, and storage.

• Experience in leading cloud migration and optimization initiatives.

• Familiarity with regulatory requirements and compliance standards (e.g., ISO, NIST, ITAR) in the aerospace or engineering industry is a plus.

Desired Experience in Digital Enterprise Services

• Digital Twin Technology: Experience supporting or managing the implementation of digital twins for product design, development, and lifecycle management.

• AI and Data Analytics: Experience in integrating AI, machine learning, and advanced data analytics tools into IT and cloud infrastructures to drive product optimization and operational efficiencies.

• IoT and Emerging Tech: Familiarity with IoT platforms, AR/VR applications, and their use in digital enterprise systems.

• Simulation and Modeling: Exposure to real-time simulations and modeling platforms in a manufacturing or engineering environment.

Interpersonal Skills

• Leadership: Ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams to achieve operational excellence and strategic goals.

• Technical Proficiency: Expertise in both on-premises IT infrastructure, cloud technologies, and digital enterprise systems.

• Project Management: Strong project management skills, with a track record of delivering large-scale IT, cloud, and digital enterprise projects on time and within budget.

• Problem-solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.

• Communication: Strong communication skills, with the ability to present technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Vendor Management: Experience managing relationships with IT, cloud, and digital enterprise service providers.

• Security Focus: Strong knowledge of IT security best practices, including cloud and digital enterprise security.
