Role overview: (Remote w/25% travel)

Otto Aviation is currently seeking a highly experienced accounting professional to join our team as Controller. As a new role within the organization, this is an exciting opportunity for a selected candidate to design, build, and manage a world-class accounting team. The Controller is a senior financial management role responsible for overseeing the organization's accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, and compliance with regulatory standards. This role plays a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing strategic financial insights to support decision-making at various levels within the organization.

Responsibilities

1. Financial Reporting and Analysis:

• Prepare and oversee the accurate and timely generation of financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and statements of cash flow.

• Analyze financial data to provide insights into the company's financial performance, trends, and opportunities for improvement.

• Present financial reports to executive management and provide recommendations based on analysis.

2. Internal Controls and Compliance:

• Develop and maintain robust internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.

• Ensure compliance with accounting principles, relevant regulations, and tax requirements.

• Coordinate with external auditors during financial audits and manage the audit process.

3. Financial Operations Management:

• Oversee day-to-day accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.

• Ensure accurate recording of financial transactions and adherence to accounting policies and procedures.

• Monitor cash flow, manage banking relationships, and optimize working capital.

4. Budgeting and Forecasting:

• Collaborate with the finance team to create and manage annual budgets and financial forecasts.

• Monitor actual performance against budgeted figures and analyze variances.

• Provide insights and recommendations to department heads based on budget analysis.

5. Financial Process Improvement:

• Lead efforts to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of accounting processes and systems.

• Design and implement process improvements to streamline accounting operations and reporting.

• Stay up to date with industry best practices and emerging trends in financial accounting.

6. Team Leadership:

• Build, lead, and mentor the accounting team, providing guidance, training, and professional development.

• Foster a collaborative and results-oriented team environment with a culture of ethical and accurate reporting.

7. Strategic Financial Support:

• Collaborate with executive management and other stakeholders to provide financial insights for strategic decision-making.

• Participate in the evaluation of strategic decisions.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting (Master's degree preferred).

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation or Chartered Accountant (CA) is highly desirable.

• 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management, with a track record of increasing responsibility.

• Implement consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, adhering to national and local legal standards while remaining knowledgeable of proposed legislation.

• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory compliance.

• Experience with financial software, ERP systems, and data analytics tools.

• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.

• Excellent communication and presentation skills to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders.

• Ability to lead, motivate, and develop an accounting team.

• High ethical standards and a commitment to maintaining accuracy, completeness, confidentiality, and integrity.

• Experience working with suppliers and vendors is a plus.

Physical Requirements
